a kaleidoscoped menagerie

Opus. 10

Instrumentation: String Orchestra
Duration: 10 Minutes, One Movement
Commissioned By: Cremona International Music Academy

A KALEIDOSCOPED MENAGERIE piece was written for a festival in Italy in 2013 and draws inspiration from solo works I had written in the five years prior to that for four of my dearest friends: two violinists, a violist, and a cellist. It is dedicated to them; a very special string quartet. (And a special moment for my string-player heart: a few days prior to the premiere, I was able to visit the workspace of Antonio Stradivari and see the nicks in his workbench where he made the instruments that have given the Classical Music community so much joy in the centuries since their creation. )
